Merc Engineering operates a quality system to BS EN ISO 9001:2000 which controls a machine shop that runs on a 3 shift system and includes the latest CNC machines. This is backed up by Computer Aided Part Programming, 3D design, and a CNC Co-ordinate Measuring Machine.

A regular feature of the Company's workload is difficult tightly-toleranced components, but the breadth of experience found within the company both at management and shopfloor level, allows it to take on all manner of engineering work, with the intention of making life easier for the customer.

The reactive precision machining market that the company is positioned in, necessitates the use of a wide range of machinery with accuracy, repeatability, and reliability.

Benefiting from extensive catalogues of gauges and instrumentation including market leading products from Trimos and Bowers Metrology, Merc's team of five inspectors have the tools to hand to consistently monitor our levels of quality.

Merc uses Mitutoyo and Eley Metrology CNC Co-ordinate Measuring Machines (CMMs) as well as the latest in technology from TESA, a TESASCAN profile measuring machine for checking highly toleranced diameter parts.

Since 2005, Merc's welding department has also been approved to DIN 6700-2, a stringent German quality standard that enables Merc to manufacture welded assemblies for the European Railway industry.

Merc is currently taking the necessary steps towards the achievement of AS9100, an Aerospace approval that is already held by Merc's sister company Bright Spark Precision Engineering Ltd.
