Enhanced profile paves the way to Aerospace success - Farnborough 08

Merc Engineering showcased its services amongst the best of Aerospace manufacturers last month at the Farnborough International Airshow.

Merc’s personnel have made constant efforts to improve customer satisfaction and their provision of world class manufacturing services has not gone unnoticed by the Market leaders of the aerospace sector.
With a long history of Defence and Aerospace manufacturing expertise, Merc has created 35 skilled positions since 2001, and the recent acquisition of local competitor Bright Spark Precision Engineering in March 2008 has added a further 15 staff to the Merc team.
This amazing rate of growth has enabled the company to drive its Sales strategy to the next level. Says Mr Nuttall, Managing Director: “Thanks to our Corporate Transformation plan, ongoing marketing campaign and commitment to investment, Merc has secured its rank amongst leading precision engineering companies for the Aerospace and Defence sectors. We are now able to target larger companies and tender for more in-depth packages that may have been beyond us several years ago.
Our participation at the Farnborough Airshow allowed us to showcase the investments we have been making in machine technology, and welcome visitors to our stand from some of the industry’s most senior buyers.”
Merc already benefits from a history of manufacturing parts for the Aerospace Industry, having manufactured parts for Rolls Royce for over 15 years. Merc also specialises in the military side of the Aerospace market, having been involved in the prototyping and development of prestigious projects such as the ASRAAM missile and the 1000lb Bomb for Royal Ordnance.
In order to respond to the increased demand from existing and potential Aerospace customers, Merc is currently going through the process of getting approved to AS 9100, an approval already held by Merc’s sister Company Bright Spark , with the final audit planned for September.
Adds Mr Nuttall: “Due to the industries we are involved in, the quality team had been growing at Merc even before we decided to go headfirst into aerospace. We sell a wide range of critical components to the power generation sector where inspection levels are stringent and require a healthy infrastructure to support the production cell. With only a minor restructure to our setup we feel we are well equipped to cope with AS9100, hopefully placing ourselves at the forefront of the market to supply packages of components to the key aerospace players.
